I’m a Bournemouth based signmaker working for a small family business – the fourth generation of my family to do so.
I’ve worked in vinyls and computer-generated signage since 2003 but over the past few years I’ve been learning traditional signwriting skills, attempting to absorb as much information as I can on the history and techniques of hand-painted signs.
This blog is intended as a record of my development, a way of recording my progress along with sharing the many diverse inspirations, influences and ideas that I come across along the way.

Great blog. I enjoy seeing all of the hand-work. Have you seen the Sign Painter Movie yet?: http://cloversignsblog.com/2013/06/hand-carving-hand-lettering/
Thanks, it’s good to get feedback on the blog. Haven’t seen the sign painter movie yet. I contacted them recently and they’re in the process of arranging some European screenings so I hope to see it soon.
